About John Exley Opticians

This traditional independent optician has been practising in Skipton since the early 1900s. The more senior local residents will remember the business trading as "Birdsall Opticians" and later "Birdsall & Wilson" at the bottom of the high street in Central Buildings.

As partners retired and new opticians were recruited, the business name has changed several times over the years to- "Arthur Wilson Opticians", then "Ken Brook" to "Ken Brook & Partner". The partner being John Exley.

Ken Brook retired in 1996 and John became a sole trader. As of June 2005 "John Exley Opticians" is once again a partnership. The partners being John Exley and his daughter Kali Taylor - both qualified Dispensing Opticians.
