Benefits, the NHS and Your Optician

 

WHO'S ENTITLED TO A "FREE" EYETEST?

    ARE YOU:

  • Over 60 years old

  • Under 16 years old

  • 16, 17 or, 18 and in full time education

  • Claiming family tax credit

  • Claiming Income Support

  • Claiming Job Seekers Allowance

  • Have a form "Health Costs 1"

  • Receiving Pension Credit Guarantee credit

  • Over 40 and an immediate relative of someone who has Glaucoma

  • Diabetic or do you have Glaucoma

If you are receiving benefits we will need your National Insurance number (NI number) and to see the certificate/card which shows your entitlement.

PAYING FOR YOUR NEW GLASSES

We are pleased to accept Cash, Maestro, Cheques and most credit cards (Not American Express) If you are 18 or under (in full time education), or receive benefits the NHS will contribute to the cost of your new glasses. A pair of standard index plastic lenses will be supplied ("on the NHS") and you will meet the price of the frame - prices start at £5.00 (high prescription lenses will be surfaced to minimum thickness for your comfort).

Children can be provided with a complete pair of spectacles without charge.
